Skype software allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet, either to other Skype customers or, for a cost, to cell phones or landlines.Skype uses a proprietary Internet telephony (VoIP) network based on the peer-to-peer model instead of the more common client-server model. Here are the tools which will support your skype better

1. Call Graph

Call Grpah is an call recording and indexing tool for Skype. It records all the Skype calls to an mp3 file and indexes them for search. Tags are assigned to the calls which can be changed. It comes in handy if you need to edit the audio for a podcast or some other purpose.Call Graph also offers a transcription service, where you can pay $0.50 for each minute of audio you want transcribed. The transcripts are generated by machines and proof read by real people.

2. Skype Call Recorder

Skype Call Recorder is a free Skype recording program which automatically recorders all your Skype conversations and conferences. The software will start the recording by itself as soon as you start talking on Skype. The conversation over, Skype Recorder will encode the recording to the specified format and will save the ready file on your hard drive. Due to the built-in audio player, you will be able to listen to the recording in no time and do whatever you like – delete it, move or upload to the site.

3. InnerPass

InnerPass is a Skype add-on, so it is desktop software. Once installed, it provides a simple interface for businesses to easily collaborate and share information and files, as well as set up video conferences. Using InnerPass Share and Collaborate, a user can set up a “meeting room”, store documents, launch conversations and share a designated screen for presentations or demonstrations. The room’s host can designate and invite team members from amongst his/her Skype contact list, grant permission to their team members to contribute or modify room content. From anywhere in the client, any team member has the ability to schedule and launch conference calls or group chats using the integrated Skype services.

5. iPhone 3.0

iPhone 3.0 allows you to make Skype calls over 3G – Video. It’s also reportedly working over 3G on the beta 3.0 firmware. This has nothing to do with bandwidth and everything to do with AT&T not wanting customers to use its 3G network to make VoIP calls and avoid AT&T fees.

6. Subscription Monitor for Skype

Subscription Monitor for Skype is a stand alone client that can give you real time information including how many numbers you have called in a day(max = 50), how many minutes of SkypeOut calling you have spent in a day (max = 360) and how many minutes you have spent on SkypeOut calls in the current month (max = 10,000). 7. open sky  by Gizmo5

This new Gizmo5 calling service “OpenSky” creates a gateway so anyone can call a Skype contact from any number. As always with Gizmo they have all the routing capabilities from mobile, from web, from a Gizmo5 client etc. OpenSky calls are free for 1-5 minutes from depending on how heavily the servers are being used (except mobile calls which require CallOut credit).You have to register for free over at my.gizmo5.com and then you can call any Skype user through an alias, in this form: skype_usernamge@opensky.gizmo5.com. It works from any SIP aware device. Furthermore, you can trigger a call by sending an SMS, which means you can call from any mobile phone, or you can even call from your web browser using a flash client.

8. SpinVox

SpinVox is a voice to text service. Spinvox started with their (now patented) Voice Message Conversion System in 2005, becoming one of the first companies to convert voicemails to text messages for both landlines and mobile telephones. Skype  new feature is working with SpinVox . SpinVox can handle translations in English, French, German and Spanish.

9. Skype for Mac 2.8 Beta

Skype has released a Skype for Mac 2.8 Beta the company’s voice over IP solution for Mac OS X. The most impressive feature is a form of basic screen sharing. Either a segment of your screen or the full screen is converted into a virtual webcam such that the screen can be viewed in any Skype client via the Skype video channel. While only a Mac can currently be a source for this screen sharing it can be viewed on any Windows, Mac or Linux client as video. The other major feature, Skype Access, offers WiFi access for a MacBook or MacBook Pro via any Boingo access point. These include McDonald’s, hotels like Marriott and Hilton and more than 500 international airports. Skype Access will run you $0.22US (€0.16) per minute using Skype Credits.

10. Xobni

Xobni, the word “inbox” spelled backwards, has created a new way to look at your email. Xobni takes the effort out of organizing, searching, and navigating your email. Now Xobni has rolled out an update that adds integration with Skype, Facebook, Hoovers, and Yahoo! Mail. Xobni displays contact information, threaded conversations, attachments, related people, email usage statistics, and information from the web. When you click on a message, Xobni will pull up information about the sender, including information from Facebook, LinkedIn, and Hoovers. If your contact’s Skype profile or phone number are available, you can also initiate a call with the click of a button.
