This new Gizmo5 calling service “OpenSky” creates a gateway so anyone can call a Skype contact from any number. 9. Skype for Mac 2.8 Beta

Skype has released a Skype for Mac 2.8 Beta the company’s voice over IP solution for Mac OS X. The most impressive feature is a form of basic screen sharing. Either a segment of your screen or the full screen is converted into a virtual webcam such that the screen can be viewed in any Skype client via the Skype video channel. While only a Mac can currently be a source for this screen sharing it can be viewed on any Windows, Mac or Linux client as video. The other major feature, Skype Access, offers WiFi access for a MacBook or MacBook Pro via any Boingo access point. These include McDonald’s, hotels like Marriott and Hilton and more than 500 international airports. Skype Access will run you $0.22US (€0.16) per minute using Skype Credits.

Xobni, the word “inbox” spelled backwards, has created a new way to look at your email. Xobni takes the effort out of organizing, searching, and navigating your email.     I can add one more useful application – SkypeCap for Mac. We are using it for business (recording important conference calls) as well as for home use.
