A Happy ‘TweetsGiving’
Twitter’s the micoblogging/messaging service that keeps on giving. New creative uses for the service are being unleashed almost daily. The folks at EpicChange.org -a 501(c)(3) non profit organizaton-and Avi Kaplan have launched TweetsGiving, a Twitter-based effort to “demonstrate the power of the social web” The goal of TweetsGiving is to raise $10,000 in 48 to build a new classroom in Tanzania. A miracle for the many children there in need. TweetsGiving will be held from Tuesday, 11.25.08 (12pm EST) to Thursday, 11.27.08 (12pm EST
The premise is simple: use Twitter to say what you’re thankful for and use the #tweetsgiving hash tag. Encourage others to do the same thing. Link as much as possible to the TweetsGiving page and get folks to give a little money via a ChipIn widget. That’s it. If you’re not on twitter you can still participate and donate to a worthy cause. Also consider sharing your gratitude in your Facebook status instead. At the moment, they’re already 72% of the way towards meeting their fundraising goal, which should pay for one complete Tanzanian classroom.
