It is very odd for a big search company like Google doesn’t add search engine to Google reader. However, Greasemonkey addon for firefox give the solution to add search box to google reader. This Google reader search script not only add search box to your Google reader but also lets you to chronologically sort results and limit results count.

If you use Google Gear, you can perform search on 2000 recently synced offline items.
