1. Sony eBook Library
Sony library allow you to import files or download them directly from the online store. 2. The Open Book Alliance
The Open Book Alliance is currently made up of various charities and libraries and is headed by the non-profit group Internet Archive, which is also the provider of web archive service Wayback Machine. Its purpose is to “counter the proposed Google Book Settlement in its current form.”
The Open Book Alliance includes the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the New York Library Association, Microsoft (MSFT), Yahoo (YHOO) and Amazon (AMZN). According to the BBC, the three companies oppose a legal settlement that could make Google the main source for many online works.
The Open Book Alliance has digitized over half a million books. All of which are offered for free.

Google Books is a tool from Google that searches the full text of books that Google scans, converts to text using optical character recognition, and stores in its digital database. The service was formerly known as Google Print.

To get started, just find any public domain book on Google Books and click on the Download button in the toolbar. The application is available for Windows and requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. You can either install Google Book Downloader or download a portable version which you can simply unzip and run from your hard drive or a removable disk. Google, however, has already scanned more than 10 million books. At the moment, it’s not allowed to display more than a few snippets of copyright-protected books for which it doesn’t have an explicit agreement with the rights holders.
