CloudCanvas: An online HTML5 image editor

CloudCanvas enables creative people to make digital art, design and other rich media right in the web browser without the need of any plugin. For you who are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to edit some images for any situation then CloudCanvas may be the web-app for you. It is very easy to handle, so it does not take an expert in graphic design for use, while incorporating advanced tools. The product aims to blend capabilities of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop into a single, easy-to-use web based offering.

You can work with vector and bitmap images, import files in JPG, GIF, and PNG from both online and offline sources, and save in PNG and SVG formats. CloudCanvas integrates with Google Docs so all your files can be saved securely there and imports images from the Open Clip Art Library, Google Images, and Deviant Art. With more than 500 fonts that are ready to use and saving formats like PNG & SVG this suite is quite promising. It is not made in flash, but like most HTML5, to the point that has an optimized version for the IPAD, which you can edit and create pictures with our fingers.

While CloudCanvas is free, the site will eventually include premium features and media sales, such as fonts and stock photography, in the future. Interestingly, CloudCanvas is offering a prize of $500 for each of the best three original images created with the product by September 12th, 2010.
