It is a new video service, featuring interviews from a bunch of VIPs from all spheres of life–politics, science, philosophy–all of them giving you their short opinions, and expecting your reactions in the comments section.The site allows users to debate stories of the day and questions put forward by experts in a given subject. Members can also submit “ideas” to the site to be critiqued and rated- basically, any thought that falls under a variety of categorized fields.
Currently, BigThink’s library includes 2,000 clips from 85 thinkers but is constantly growing. Some viewers who have watched, embed, and share videos of “big thinkers” are Senator John McCain, Psychologist Steven Pinker, and NY Times columnist and economist Paul Krugman sharing their punditry as concisely as possible. The Web site also provides a user format for video and audio contributions on topics affecting people, using them as a linchpin for public discussion among the site’s users.With such an impressive list of contributors, Big Think is already setting itself up as the go-to website to discuss and debate the topics of the day in any given field.
