A wiki is a collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it. With this web-based application every user is capable to create a comprehensive knowledge base or an interactive website on any personal, corporate or social topic, and share it with the user’s community.

Mediation is a Wiki engine; that is, it is software which provides a web site that contains pages which can be edited by users. MediaWiki.org is the free software which powers websites like Wikipedia and other projects of the non-profit Wikimedia foundation, as well as many other wikis around the world.. Compared to other wikis, it has an excellent range of features and support for high-traffic websites using multiple servers.

To use MediaWiki, you’ll need a web server with PHP and MySQL available and some experience installing web applications.  Once MediaWiki’s installed, you can start adding and editing pages to your wiki. Wiki pages aren’t made of HTML like regular pages, they’re made of special wiki markup

This site includes pure descriptions, advice, suggestions, and contains how-to’s; this includes tutorials, walk-throughs and instruction manuals related to the subject matter. MediaWiki automatically creates on-page, hierarchical outlines based on page sections with links that point directly to those sections (even if they’re midway down the page).
