MySpace, MTV and Auditude to make money from online video

Auditude  helps content owners manage, and monetize widely syndicated media. The company’s technology is an ad platform focused on changing the way media is consumed online by making it audience powered. MySpace and Auditude, a new provider of patented online video advertising technology, has announced that they have partnered with MTV Networks to enable advertising opportunities within audience-uploaded videos across MySpace. Through this relationship, Auditude provides the opportunity for advertising to be inserted across a suite of MTV Networks’ most popular video content uploaded to MySpace, including clips from MTV and COMEDY CENTRAL, among others. This agreement enables all parties – publishers, content owners, advertisers, and fans – to benefit from the organic distribution of premium video on the Web.

Auditude technology automatically identifies user-posted segments of shows, then weaves in advertising for copyright owners and tells viewers whose program they are watching.
Instead of copyright holders chasing down television shows video posted on MySpace pages and then demanding clips be removed in accordance with US law, they can let Internet users be delivery channels complete with advertising.YouTube launched a similar strategy last year, which offers copyright holders a choice between removing pirated material or letting YouTube place ads on the content and sharing the revenue. This is a big step forward for monetizing online video.
