1. FileZilla
FileZilla is a fast and reliable FTP client with lots of handy features. The program lets you transfer files and navigate among folders, Web sites, and your computer. This software enables you to perform multiple file transfers simultaneously.It supports resume on both downloads and uploads, timeout detection, firewall support, SOCKS4/5 and HTTP1.1 support, SSL, SFTP and more, all with an intuitive drag and drop interface.
FileZilla is no monster, either, eating up a manageable 50 MB in memory. If your bandwidth is somewhat limited, you’ll appreciate a feature that lets you automatically adjust transfer speeds based on the time of day or date. A nice program for beginners and advanced user alike.

2. Widerbug
Widerbug is a tweaked version of Firebug that has been specifically designed for widescreen monitors. Firebug is a Firefox add on which helps designers and developers to perform the live management, directly in the web browser of the HTML, CSS or JavaScript code through various editing debugging and monitoring tools.
Instead of dividing the computer screen vertically it divides it horizontally by displaying the Firebug information in a sidebar on the right side of the web browser. The panels maintain their connection to each tab, doing away with the phantom code effect found in Firebug when you try to coax it into wide screen mode. Widerbug is a free extension and works wherever Firefox does.

4. 960 Gridder
960 Gridder is an excellent tool for any web developer/ designer that wants to easily align, match and/or lay out websites. 960 Gridder is cross-browser compliant and works well in Internet Explorer 6/7/8, Firefox 2/3 and Chrome. You can either use as an integrated component to layout your websites or use it as a bookmarklet. The grid is fully customizable but it defaults to the “960px grid standard”. 960 Gridder will automatically identify if jQuery is present at the website and if it is not, it will include it. It injects your website of choice and you can then work with this tool to help you out with whichever layout/design task you find it useful for. By default, it is set to work with 12 columns, 60 pixel wide columns with a 10 pixel spacer left and right of the column, making it a 20 pixel wide gutter.

5. ColorRotate
ColorRotate 3d color rotate is a color effect plug-in for iMovie with a heavy dose of eye candy and easy-to-use controls. The default setup for ColorRotate is a 3D diamond shape, which you use to set the tint, hue, and the blending for your palette. If you prefer a more traditional appearance, you can switch it over to a series of sliders. You can create a completely new palette or browse through popular user-created palettes, or modify them.

Smush it allows you to automate image optimization by using the best of open source algorithms to achieve the smallest, high performance images possible. Smush.it offers an API that performs these optimizations (except for stripping JPEG meta data) automatically, and this plugin seamlessly integrates Smush.it with WordPress.
It appears as a small icon in the status bar at the bottom of the Firefox window. Just right-click on it and then left-click on Run Smush It! The website will be submitted to Smush It! and a report will be displayed showing which images can be improved. You can also run your existing images through Smush.it via the WordPress Media Library.

Yet Another Multicolumn Layout is a highly versatile (X)HTML/CSS framework, released under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License (CC-A 2.0) and can be downloaded at yaml.de/en/ . Its fully compatible with the Simple Project Example so that you can copy/paste all builder output directly into the appropriate files in the project folders. Have fun with the new release.

I have to say I concur with most of what is being stated here. I am gonna have to have to snatch the rss so I can keep tabs. on what is going on around here.
