RealWorld Icon Editor is a feature rich icon maker and extractor. It is able to create Windows XP icons directly from images and 3D models.  Even people without artistic talent can create professional icons in RWIE, because the application integrates a simple 3D graphics editor, which takes case of naturally looking materials, perspective, lighting, and shadows and allows user to employ the trial and error approach. On each generated image, a configurable special effect is applied. Icons can be modified in raster editor with common drawing tools or custom scripted operations. A library with 36 icons and source 3D models is included. The new version introduces support for ICL files, can save files to a database and attach tags (~poor man’s WinFS) and has a redesigned raster image editor with features unseen in another icon editors.
