Tweetmixx: Track Twitter Trends and Topics Better
Social news site Mixx on Wednesday has launched a new application blends the best of Twitter and Mixx to give you. TweetMixx allows Twitter users to select key search terms and topics, then culls relevant links. It also deciphers shortened URLs to more easily identify their topics, allows users to follow subject matter — rather than just people — and finds the most popular links being shared. No need to follow 10,000 people in hopes of finding the best content about the Beatles. Just enter “Beatles” in as an interest and we’ll find the best content being shared!
TweetMixx does is scan through the tweets and look for links which it then analyzes. It displays a stream of shared links that can function like an RSS feed. It ends up looking a lot like Tweetmeme. But, the difference is the fact that the links are coming from sources that you have subscribed to.
Using Twitte’rs oAuth to sign-in, meaning no sign-up is required, the service hunts through the latest tweets from your followers to bring you only the links that they are tweeting. However, there is an option to see all tweets. You can also get a view of the links being shared by just the people you follow (and a toggle to view all tweets regardless of whether or not they contain links), with the same link preview service displayed in the middle column.
