WordPress 2.6 has been officially released today. WordPress 2.6 is out, almost a month ahead of schedule. Congrats to all of the developers for their hard work. There are many new features in WordPress 2.6 you will truly appreciate! WordPress encourages users to upgrade, as the old 2.5 branch will no-longer be maintained, and they have outlined the upgrade process

Here are the cool features :

• Post Revisions -  Wordpress now enable you to check out the revisions made to your posts. It resembles Wikipedia’s version control system,
• Press This!: -wherever you are on the web you can post your wordpress. It could give more advantage for your important blogs.
• Integrated Theme Preview: soon as you select a theme , it will pops up a window that shows the theme live with all your content, instead of immediately making it active on your site.
• Enhanced image control/Image captions
• Support for Google gears and several other useful enhancements.
