YouGizmos.com is a community where members can get ideas, advice, and encouragement on their endeavors and share accomplishments and expertise. This site is a portal where those with creative minds can convene together and discuss different aspects of their crafts by uploading videos for the appreciation of fellow site users or by interacting in the provided forums.
YouGizmos is a development of Design Visionaries, a 15-year-old design firm doing business in the heart of Silicon Valley. The company has performed a wide range of mechanical designs for many major corporations. They also do quite a bit of design for small start-up companies and inventors that have a fantastic idea and need help to bring it to market.
Members can upload their own project videos (whether it’s a new invention that will solve the world’s energy crisis or the go-cart bolted together from a lawn mower, or a kinetic sculpture), or watch others’ videos and download the plans to make it. The best submission of the Summer 2008, as rated by a combination of staff and users, will be awarded a cash prize of $2,000. Resources include a blog, a forum and chat. Moreover, a section entitled “Market” can be accessed anytime, and it enables site users to trade products over the web.
